Default 16" or 18" rear

&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Can someone enlighten me on which size rim would be the best rear replacement for the stock spoke rim. I would still like the spoke rim but want a 5.5 inch width so I'm not locked in to the SE 180 tire. 4400 miles this year and its gone! Would like to have some other choices on tire brands. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks&nbsp\\;

I went with the 16", spokes in black, rim and hub in red and then Avon Wide White Wall. The dim. work out to be within less than 1/2" difference in height. I went for the overall look and the white wall was the best, also I like the idea that it is usually easy to find a 16" tire (in an emergency also). Either way I think they look good.

&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Any problems with clearance with the 18" wheel. I have 12'" progressives on the back now.

I've gone back and forth on which size to use&nbsp\\;if I change, and it's hard because they will both look good.&nbsp\\; In general I would say the 16 is more of a classic look (as with the mentioned whitewalls) and the 18 is a more modern look.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; I notice the change in sidewall height more than the difference in wheel diameter, assuming you have a fat 16 and a low profile 18.&nbsp\\; I guess the stock 17 is a nice compromise, but like you I just wish it was a tad wider and we had a few more tire options.

&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Redbeard, If you look at the link that ktmscott posted they make a 17"x 5.5. What do you think of sticking with the stock size but wider. Do you think the different sizes change the speedometer?
