Just got myself a K&N air filter off eBay - the part number is correct according to the K&N website ie HD1499. Trouble is, I went to fit the thing today and it doesn't fit! There's nowhere for the hamcam cover to screw into for example, even though the 3 bolt holes for mounting to the filter backing plate are in the correct place.
how about a pic of the filter in question?

The pic's in the link.
The non-visible side of the filter in the picture is just the inlet hole for the engine-side.
I also think I may have f*cked-up here - the K&N filter is actually only for the STOCK airbox, not for the stage1 version. I've been scouring the www to find a K&N for my stage1 airbox but to no avail.
exactly...and the one you got was the pic i was asking for you said it appeared wrong....sorry for the misunderstanding i saw the pic in the link but that was a K&N link not the exact filter in question

No worries - looks like I've learned another valuable lesson, ie I should read ALL the small print, although unlike the K&N website, my local K&N shop's website does state very clearly that the filters are for the stock airbox. Only thing is that they're ÂŁ14/$20 more expensive than off eBay. Ah well...time to open another beer - it'll take the pain away.
