Hello All, I was dragging my jiffy stand in left turns. It just hung down too low, would not retract all the way. I thought it was the spring so I replaced the spring last night, but, I have the same problem. The stand is loose, it doesn't swing back into place, will pretty much stay where I put it. If i hit a bump, it drops down, no tension from the spring it seems, but it has a new spring. So, is there something else I should adjust or change?
+1 on checking the bolt. Also make sure that all of the moving parts related to
the jiffy stand is clean and lubed. It is one of the items that is listed to do
during service checks.
I'll check the bolt when I get home. I SHOULD have checked that by default when changing the spring (and this may help with some troubleshooting) but: when I retracted the kickstand, I was able to easily remove the old spring, and it wasn't that stretched! I then put the new spring in, using the coin method. For all I know, the coins weren't even necessary. I'll check the bolt tonight.
