Default EFI vs CARB

A dealer told my friend that a carb bike has more power over a EFI bike. I can't see it, but my friends swear they do. I think the dealer was just trying to sell him a carbed bike they had on the floor, witch he did buy. What do you guys think?

You will learn someday, to take everything others say with a grain of salt.

A carb is easier to adjust, and cheaper to upgrade......but for the right price you can really tune an EFI in good. Some old timers may disagree with me, but I say you can make an EFI run better than a carb, not vice versa.

On a side note, there are a lot of guys haveing problems with the 06 EFI....so they wont agree....lol But IF it is working right and IF you spend the cash, EFI is better. As technology advances, sometime there are bugs to work out. Also, with technological advances there is change. And it is human nature to fear change. Maybe not fear it.....but definatley not like it! I will say you can wrench an old ironhead carbed Sporty a HELL OF A LOT easier than my 06 dyna. But I wanted a new bike. I have mhy Sporty to play with in the garage. ActuallyI wish the Sporty was even OLDER! IF I get the wife to take over the 03 Sporty, and IF I get the SERT and all the goodies I want on my WG, and IF I still have some cash.....lot of IFs huh........I would like an old 70 Ironhead project bike. Maybe a shovelhead....but I love Sporties.

Sorry I am getting off subject.....

Very wise.....I am just getting to that level. (35) I notice each day I care less and less what others say or think! I have always been a leader vice follower by nature. Still when you are unsure about something it is easier to just listen to peoples BS, when you should learn for yourself. Of course, then you got the young guys that think they know it all. I guess it is a balance you have to obtain as you grow older and hopefully.....wiser.

Your reply says it all. Many times I refrain from debates on here because some believe everything they hear as gospel. I find it's like they all want to do what the other guy does.

B J, I have a '04 FXD carbed and I had problems with it running with a backfire of sort. I brought it to a mechanic shop ( not HD) and the mechanic explanded to me that the carb throat is nto 40 mm but really 38.6 mm in diameter. He then said that he would send it out to get it bored and the jets reworked and the needle valve that has 7 steps to 11 steps. Heynoed the bike before and after and I had almost 10HP more then before. Probably that would need to be done to the intake on the EFI by honing out the throat.
