Help with Python Staggered Duals & Transmission Dipstick
My brother just bough a 2002 Wide Glide with Python Staggered Duals. How do you check the transmission level? There isn't enough clearance between the pipes and the dipstick to get a wrench in there. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.
RE: Help with Python Staggered Duals & Transmission Dipstick
Dave, things must have changed with the new 6spd tranny. i have staggered duals on my 07 bob and i have no trouble getting at the transmission fill port. Now the oil fill / dipstick can be a challenge especially when its hot but its workable... maybe someone can help out with some info prior to the new tranny change over.

cut a small section off a 3/8" (i think) allen wrench.
long enough to get into the plug with about 1/2" exposed.
slip a 3/8" box wrench on the exposed end and remove the plug.
not too elegant - but better than removing the pipes.
RE: Help with Python Staggered Duals & Transmission Dipstick
I tried cutting an allen wrench and quickly discovered I would be at it for hours. So my solution was to buy a 3/8 hex head socket, put it in a vise, and give it about two taps with a punch. The piece that came out works perfectly with a 3/8 open end wrench.

ya - I admit - I got about 20% of the way thru cutting mine then just left it in the vise and smashed it with a hammer until it snapped
would have taken forever to cut thru the whole thing.

For the Oil Dipstick, I got this little tool. Awesome ... I love it. I've got True Duals on an 09 Bagger and tried everything. This works. http://www.hdsmartsocket.com
