I am leaving the Marines first part of August and riding my 08 low rider to Houston. \\; Read all the ideas in other posts in how to dress, when to stop, etc., but I am looking for cool places to stop ot have lunch, that sort of thing. \\; Any ideas?
stop every 100 miles to be safe on gas and not to wear out. \\; If you are near chicago ill give you a place to crash and take you out in the area...
First let me say Thanks for your service to our country. \\;Are you coming the southern route and how long are you going to take. I can not speak anything but Texas. I live in College Station. First when I got to El PASO I would continue to Van Horn and turn south through the Lincoln mountains to Ft. Davis an stay there at the Indian Lodge (fairly cheap housing and great rooms) from there I would ride the sceneic route. I have done it in a car and it is beautiful. After that you can ride over to the Balmorea State park about 30 miles through the mountains (have to swim in the worlds bigest pool, 78 degrees yer round) \\;and get on Interstate 10 towards San Antonio and get off at Junction and go to the hill country around \\;Bandera and Kerrville great riding there. There are always bikers riding around there. It is easy to get back on I-10 to San Antonio. Or you can go to Austin and hit 290 to Houston. \\; \\;A lot of good places to eat out that way. Lots of German restaurants in the hill country. If you stay at the Indian Lodge I suggest that you eat at a place in Ft. Davis called the drugstore, great food. The food at the lodge is also great and a lot for your money. Have a safe and great trip and again welcome home and thanks for serving yours and my country.
Luther, Shooter, JRK, I appreciate the thanks. \\; I will definitely be tyring some of your ideas. \\; Think I have a good plan now. \\; Thanks again for all the input.
