Just got my Fat Bob a week or so ago and found the ride to be a little stiff and could feel everything on the road. Checked the tire pressure and found a strong 42/42 lbs of pressure. \\; Checked out the Dyna Owners manual and it said 36/36, which I took the tires down to. Rides a little better. Fine at high speeds but in 2 or 3rd the bike has so much grip I'll think it would pull tree stumps. Calling the dealer, who didn't know the bike wore Dunlops.. his words of advice were, "All our bikes carry 40 lbs at least.. I'd be concerned with only 36/36 on those big tires that they wouldn't roll". \\; Spent some time and finally went to the Dunlop site and looked up the psi on the OEM tires. Their site said 30/36. \\; What are you folks running for tire pressure?
Informative post. Thank you. I will be checking my tires.
I agree as well... I wasn't looking for this but more stumbled across it!! I love it... Just made me really think of my tire pressure because I have been disappointed in these American Elite tires and thought maybe they had been filled up too much...
Pressures on data plates are never correct on any vehicle I have drove... Not sure about the motorcycle though... I've chalked all of my tires on cages and I always run a lower pressure for better traction by looking at the chalk patterns... No two tires are the same in that aspect... The OEM dunlops were actually amazing on my fatbob I am on American Elites now and they are complete garbage... I have to avoid almost all water in the road in dry conditions or they slip however after a few miles in the rain they perform decently... I still don't trust the American Elite in curves and turns though after they were highly recommended from several people...
