I helped a friend of mine change his transmission fluid in his Wide Glide this past weekend, and the fluid came out looking milky like it had water in it. Any thoughts as to why the fluid came out looking like this?
was the fluid level over full? If it was this could explain water intrusion. I believe there is a trans vent tube on newer Dynas, which could allow water in. Check the seal for any cuts or being twisted.( my experience is very limited)
I didnt check the fluid level before changing it, but i would assme it would have been properly filled. The last time it was changed, it was serviced by someone else, and since the transmission isn't leaking, I assum he never checked it.
I don't think it has to do with syn3 in that hole. I would put a quart of gear oil in the trans and run it for 2-3 hundred miles then drain it again and check the color and for metal on the magnetic drain plug. If ok fill it up with your prefered brand. I would not put syn 3 back in the trans, but that's just my opinion.
+1 on Syn3 not in transmission. +1 on put in fresh trans oil, run for a few hundred miles, change run your oil of choice, I just wouldn't run Syn3. \\;IMHO \\;

No. Mixing oils wont make it look like it had moisture but there are some wierd fluids out there. Do you know who changed it last or who did the service on it. I agree with the others, change it, ride it for a few hundred and change it again. Could be somebody messed with it without the owner knowing?
