Riding home the other day I got caught in some rain and got to try out my new froggtoggs rainsuit. I dig 'em. Well apparently when I stopped and put my right leg down, the material hit the muffler and melted. Now I have this big smudge on my pipe. Not something I can overlook. Any suggestions how to clean them up? I thought of chrome polish but don't have any at the moment. \\;
Got the same thing on my pipes. Not from a rain suit but from the boots I wear when ridding. They have this rubber like material up around the ankle. Used some metal polish the wadding type form eagle one. Did not get rid of completly the first time but did do a little bit of good.
Spray Easy-Off oven cleaner when it is cold at night, then in the morning you should be able to wipe off with minmal effort. I tried it when I dropped a plastic bag on the hot pipes one day, worked like a champ.
I use WD40 and fine steel wool, to remove baked on stuff on my pipes, like the wifes boot soles. Works very well and does not harm the finish. Do it with warm pipes and it comes right off.
I actually resolved the issue. Performed on cold pipes. Found some Soft Scrub w/bleach under the sink. Used a damp sponge with the scour pad on one side. Soft scrub took it off in under 30 seconds. Wiped off the product with a soft towel and there is definitely no haze. Clean as a whistle. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll definitely add them to my list of quick-fixes.
