Right....so the stealer was looking up my VIN for the insurance.....i consider myself to be pretty computer savvy......he had no idea that as he was flipping through the screens that i was scanning every page.....they had no intention for me to see what they paid.... i just so happened to catch it.

CT sales tax = 6%
add the security system = $275

stealer's service department gets $80.00 per hour

at MSRP the dealer should have about $4,000 of margin to play with or about 20-23%. If you got part of that margin off you are doing fine. The dealer is not a charity. He is there to make a profit just like we all are. So, why would you feel uncomfortable about him making a profit? I dont' begrudge my dealer making money because when he makes a profit on me he stays in business and then gets to give me good service and on and on. I don't believe you got screwed at all. Lots of people pay way over MSRP for these bikes to get the ones they want. Just simple supply & demand.

no really.......they should have given me the bike for nothing.......seriously......i'm a good dude......they should have just givin it to me....lol

I was moreso wondering about the dealer markup.....if it seemed reasonable.

However.....if it keeps money in my pocket......I could give two ***** about the dealer.

And I do own a business....I understand overhead.....

I also understand that you can go to costa rica and buy a HD for half the price.

i dont understand the problem, when i price a job i always mark it up, if i didnt i would be a fool and in turn would not be able to afford to expand my business. Nor could i run a pay roll pay for supplies, How come when we buy something we expect the world but when its us wanting to get paid its a whole different story. I say be grateful you are fortunate to be able to afford a nice bike and get out and ride it. JMO

For what you paid you got a decent deal.

The dealer basically charged you MSRP.

The few CT dealers I've visited so far charge more than MSPR and/or add on equipment before the bike hits the showroom.

Mind telling me what dealerhip you went to? They sound better than the ones I've been to so far.

According to the book the price your dealer paid may be over MSRP, if the incoice you saw was $17,000+
The FXWGI has a MSRP of $16,620
color option $16,905
two tone $17,205

Not sure which one you ordred. The dealer here charges MSRP. He should not be making a penny on the bike. I do not belive that. There has to incentives from the motor company. The dealership is clean, fairly large, well stocked, and has many employees. They can't be making all their profit though parts, accessories, and clothes. I still think you made out pretty well.

Definitely agree. By selling at MSRP the dealership still makes a buck, and the consumer gets a fair shake.

I can remember that not that long ago people were camping out at dealership doors the night before dealers got their allotment numbers. And MSRP was just the starting point for what the bikes were selling for!!!

as far as I'm concerned you did fine. I paid 18.3 before taxes and upgrades. I didn't expect to pay MSRP. I know there are people that say that you shouldn't pay over MSRP, but the fact of the matter is, most dealers charge over that...if you can find one that does charge MSRP, you got lucky. And in NJ, forget it..just isn't gonna happen. I didn't feel like shopping around..I wanted a new harley that I could ride immediately. The two weeks I had to wait for them to add upgrades and prep were difficult enough. There's no way I was gonna spend countless months shopping around looking to save a couple bucks. You could say I wasn't being thrifty...but I don't care...so I spent a little more...I was out riding. Hell..if you really want to save, go buy a metric That's just me.

I can't really say if it's a good deal or not, I bought mine through Aafes and saved a ton. But when I was pricing them online at the dealerships around where I live, $18,000 to $18,500 without security/tax/title/etc, etc.... seemed to be the norm.

the problem is : all the additional junk that goes in with it....
Just a few add ons I've seen

freight, prep, which they can usually nollie or reduce.

100 bucks for EFI (WTF it's the only way a new wide glide comes)
