Like any transaction I'm sure you looked and searched to find the very best deal YOU could afford before you signed on the bottom line. Second guessing does nothing. Enjoy your new ride.........................
In Ca that price would mean YOU'RE the stealer, and I shopped hard while waiting for my last bike to be sold. I finally found MSRP, but then the other costs were added on, just like the MSRP sites say. Nothing extra either (does a t-shirt count?), but I got exactly the bike I've wanted forever in just a few days. I'm the guy with bugs in his teeth.
My carpool is falling apart right on time so I can ride every day starting next month.
Enjoy![8D]
I just don't get this at all. Why you guys talk that much about money all the time. Better enjoy the bike in stat of talking about stealers? Those people work hard to build up your bikes as you want with a margin of only 10% and that is even to much iyo? Please don't be so greedy. I will find my new SB this week , loaded with accessories. My dealer, Westcoastmotors in the Netherlands gave me a fair exchangeprice for my 2002 FXD and they will even bring my new bike to my place. I sincerely hope they'll have a better margin then 10%
Bought my '06 Street Bob for $14,700 in Sept.'05. MSRP on HD site is$13,195 +$275 for sec. sys. Don't really give a ##@%.I expected sticker price to be $16-18K before I walked into HD dealer or chk'ed out on web.I think I got a great bike for thousands less than expected.

Bought my WG in So Cal.... The FXWGI has a MSRP of $16,620, I paid 16,800 + Tax. 180 dollar mark up.......Thats great. Of course it was off season (if there is such a thing here) I saw my exact bike in the same dealer last week with a tag saying almost 1000 more.
Wrote the man a check for $18,900.00...included the following:
06 FXDLI
custom paint...scarlett red and charcoal satin brite pearl...only avail oct - dec '05 $850 I think was the cost
SE Stage 1 with download and Arlen Ness high flow air filter
SE Pro II baloney cuts
flame grips
security system
chrome aluminum profile laced wheels $450 I think was the cost
all freight/dealer setup/CA emissons fee/tax/license charges
all options installed and bike was delivered to my driveway (I live about 75 mi from dealership...both the dealer and I thought it a bad idea to ride it home on the freeway prior to proper breakin...in CA at breakin speeds I'd have been run over that first 50 mi)
all the above included for the $18,900...paid cash so at least I have no finance charges!
Does that mean that the HD dealer really didn't throw in the floormats and undercoating on my bike for free like they said they were going to do?
Anyone in business, retail, wholesale, Wal-Mart, GM or anyone else will make a profit off of you when you buy something. It's called capitalism and w/o selling things over their cost, there's not much point to being in business. Bike dealers are like car stealers, I mean dealers. They'll whine about the deal your getting and then put thousands of dollars of accessories on the bike/car/truck and make a huge profit off of their parts sale. How many new bike/car/truck dealers have you every seen that don't have a service and parts department? Very few if any I would guess, that is the gold mine for the dealer, not the small profit they make on the actual sale of the vehicle. They'd like you to keep coming back and buying more stuff and getting all of your service done there, rather than somewhere else or heaven forbid, you doing it yourself. But even there, you'll go to them for parts.
I haven't seen too many HD dealerships that have closed recently. In fact, most, but not all are going to the glitzy neon whorehouse look with Chrome Consultants and all of the trendy crap attached to that. Know what that means? The prices are going to go even higher. there have been posts here and elsewhere of dealers charging over list for parts. If you buy your parts and pay over list, then the answer to your question is YES, you did ripped off. On the WG, you did just fine. Go ride and don't lose any sleep over it.
