For the people that changed there oem bars to the street bob mini apes, are you
more or less pleased with the change? I have the bars ready to put on and now I'm
second guessing.
I found the OEM buckhorns on my 06 FXDI extremely uncomfortable. They were causing me pain between my shoulder blades during anything but the shortest rides.
I installed a set of "Bob" take-off mini-apes and loved them. I was so happy with the change, I next installed a pair of Flanders chrome and drilled bars of the same specs as the "Bob" mini-apes.
I had the stock mini-apes on my Wide Glide and didn't care for them at all. I took advantage of the recall to replace them with some Wild-1 Drags at Moco's expense.
Putting the bob mini-apes on my FXDC was absolutely, positively, the 2nd best mod I made - 2nd only to the Kury forwards. I used to get shoulder pain after about 1 hr rding, now I go all day and feel fine.
I found the OEM buckhorns on my 06 FXDI extremely uncomfortable.
Ditto for me. I didn't change to mini-apes, I chose drags instead but the reason, for me, was basically the same as jmpancoast's. I needed to get my wrists and arms more straight than the stock bars put mine. I'm very happy with the change.
