Default Question handlebar change

I have 2008 FXDC and getting ready to change the Oem bars to mini apes from street bob.
my question today is some guys said they have enough of the electrical wire when they pulled
out from frame, do you have to release a tie wrap or something somewhere?, I pulled on mine and nothing much came out of front of frame.
I got to do this myself, dealer says 6 hours of labor and they say they need to splice all wires.
thanks

zip tie that releases the wires under the seat attatched to frame right behind the tank mount...at least on 05 models....

did you get to the connectors and discover nothing much or have you not reached those. If so above may apply.

I did get to any connectors, I just pulled a little and did seem to want to pull out any.
I was afraid If I pulled too much I would pull a wire out of a connector or something.

slipstrm, did you need to release some wire ties to be able to pull wire out?

Nope, I just had to pull the Rubber grommets out of the holes on the sides of the frame where the wires come out, I also took off the piece under the frame to allow me to get my hands up in there a little bit.

I did this same thing on my FXD. On the under side of the neck of your frame there is a plastic cover, take it off for access to the wiring. The wiring is probably just jammed in there and giving you problems so just move stuff around a little to free the wire up and it should come on out. I had a hard time with mine and actually pulled the wire loose from the connector thus leading to finding the plastic cover.

Just a side note...Your bike should have the key switch up on the frame under the rubber grommet like my 06 Low Rider. The wires for the switch (3 red with prongs) are plugged in to the frame way up inside the frame. If you giggle around too much without being careful these will come out. It really isn't much fun trying to get them back in unless of course you have really really tiny hands. By the way...my low rider didn't have any wire ties anywhere but I really doubt what your dealer was telling you especially if you are running the wires on the outside of the stock street bob bars. I had 3 hours invested in the entire install and I ran the wires through the bars. God I hate the stealerships.
