hey Im a newbie and Im fixin to pull the trigger on a 09 superglide custom and I was wanting to know if the sundowner deep bucket seat is as good as it sounds or is it just a sales pitch. The real reason I want it is for the bigger passenger pillion so the wifey will be comfortable on longer rides. Also if you have one on yours could you please post a pic so i could see it on the bike. Thanks in advance for your help and I just wanna say this is a great fourm and I have learned so much in the short time I've been on here.
I have a Sundowner that I put on my 07 Street Bob for long trips. I do not have a picture of my bike with the Sundowner on. I only put it on for trips because I do not like the way it looks on the bike. I leave the stock seat on the bike most of the time. It is more comfortable for the passenger, at least according to my GF it is. It changes the riding position of the rider as well, it pushed me up a little and forward a little. Not a big deal. If your idea is to get the passenger more comfortable i would say it would be worth buying it.
my wife and i just rode from boise to las vegas, about 1,500 miles in four days and we were comfy the whole time. she has the med/hi touring back rest also, makes her feel more secure. invest in making her comfortable over looks, if shes happy your happy.
Looks like hell performs great, it is way better than my corbin was. I konestly feel like i am good fo 500-600mi/day with it no prob. I used to get uncomfortable but now I just get tired due to the fact I dont run a windshield.
Thanks for the quick replies guys! With ya'lls help I've decided to go ahead and get it to make sure she is comfortable. I never thought about changing it out for ridin solo back and fourth to work which is just 22 miles round trip but that sounds like a good idea if I dont like the way it looks on the bike. Thanks again for your help.
I don't particularly like the looks of my Sundowner, but it was cheap and comfy! Passengers seem to enjoy it...no super long trips with a passenger so I'm not sure how it works for long hauls...here's a photo of mine on the bike:
Looked at the sundowner aswell ,dealer said i could try it for short ride around the block, instead ordered a saddleman from Dennis Kirk felt great on the back but to wide and high at front and could'nt fit sissy bar with out forcing the passenger seat into it, sent it back and got the Mustang solo w/pillion perfect feels good at the front and moved me back and down so the pegs fell more natural.I've got a WD and i'm 5'8 glad i did'nt settle for any thing else.Seat makes all diff for comfort and saftey
