The Cascade Loop is O.K. but it is a lot of slab, head a bit north and get on Hwy 20? head East stop at Concrete
That is part of the Cascade loop, the cascade highway is the best part of the loop.
Enjoy your trip, don't forget to stop at the Diablo Overlook Viewpoint, an awesome view.
Chuckanut is a great twistie ride, just too short, but lots of great views.
Make sure you pack some rain gear... weather has been really weird this year in WA. Also, I would plan to hit the Oyster run bike rally on 9/30 up in Anacordes. Here's a link to read about it http://www.soundrider.com/archive/ri...tes_routes.htm
I just got back on Sunday from four days of riding the state. Started in Kennewick (home) went north to Wenatchee to meet a friend and then over the North Cascades. We crossed over to the Olympic Pennensula and followed the coast. Went from Aberdeen to Olympia then up to Seattle. From there we hit I90 to Ellensburg then south to Yakima on 812 through the canyon. Last leg was the freeway home. I5 sucks, stay off it if you can. Here are some pictures I took along the way to wet your appetite.
This is a shot from the North Cascades.
This is from Hiway 112 on the northern part of the Pennensula.
This is also on Hiway 112 headed towards Neah Bay.
I'm so glad I live in Washington State. I am five minutes from roads like this living in Maple Valley, and still 30 minutes from Seattle. Other than tough wet winters, it's perfect. Every friend that comes to visit can't believe how beautiful it is. You won't go wrong no matter where you go. It's obvious you need to see Mt Rainier, one big volcano! The loop takes a day, or you can stay up there and make it two. There's a reason it's a big attraction!
I hope you are planning on HWY 1 from San Diego up to San Fran. The ride through from San Luis Obispo to the Monterey penninsula is beautiful. The weather can be cool in the mornings, but well worth it given the scenery. Big Sur is one of the most striking contrasts you will see with the hills on your right and ocean on your left. No worries about the fires; I believe the road is all open now. I rode from Monterey to Cambria and back two weeks ago and all was fine.
