I bought the turn signal relocation kit 53968-06a to put on a detachable sissy bar and I need to cut the wires, all this kit does it replace the mount between the fender and the light. Where is the best place to cut and splice them? Under the fender doesn't look like a good idea. Thanks.
I cut them close to the plugs so the splice was housed in the tail light assembly rather than under the fender. Have fun getting those wires through the hollow bolts. I used dish soap to lube them. PITA!
On mine I spliced them inside the taillight as well, but I drilled the bolts out a couple sizes larger than they were. Easy enough to do but do it in 2 stages going 1/64" larger at a time.
i cut them after the turn sig stalks... then i fed wire thought eh hollow bolt and soldered it all back up... later i got rid of them completely but never the less
I did not have to cut mine. I pulled the pins out of the connectors by shoving a pointed needle like thin rod into the back of the slots above the holes where the wires go in to relieve the pressure off of the pin barbs and then pulled them out. Making sure I wrote down what color wires go into which hole.
I think there was a snap in the back I had to open to get to the pins.
Shove the pins w/wires one at a time through the feedthru tubes then snap them into the connector. The manual says to use a harley tool but no doubt it looks like the rod I describe.
