when ever i head out camping on the bike it looks like a pack mule with 2 people on it and we sometimes weigh in over 1100 lbs. got me thinking about cargo or maybe a tent trailer. i have the TC 88'' with no engine mods...yet. was also wondering if the clutch would hold up. found a hitch for the Dyna online but was wondering if anyone has any experience with towing.
what kinda hitch?, you have a link, The dyna , and it's clutch will pull it fine, same as a road king the only thing i know for a fact is some trailers pivot left and right on the tongue and the ball needs to be slightly lower than the rear axel, have i pulled one ? No but i did look into this at another forum and the experienced trailer pullers gave thier advice.. funny you asked that here , cause all these guys are trying to recreate a bobber of the forties.
nothing wrong with that, if thats what you like.
here's a link for the hitch http://www.hitchdoc.com/hitches.html
i did a search and had limited success with Dyna applications. guess I'm kinda going for that look also but i like touring too. would like to keep the SG and get a RK also but i can't afford both so i get lots of Quick Release touring options. hopefully the hitch comes off easily.
your motor and trans and clucth will be fine, its the exact setup that is on the touring models. you should be fine pulling a trailer, just remember that it wil take longer to brake. i have thought about it also since me and the wife like to travel alot. but all i do is have a tourpack mounted on detachable side plates for touring and use a tbag for on top of the tourpak. might look silly but when i get to my distination, i just take it off and throw it in the tent. same as if you use a trailer, when i travel i dont care how i look to a cager going down the rode in another state as long as iam comfortable and its convinent, screw them. jackyl
wow man i looked for a hitch forever, i wanted to do this for my bike... let the project go when i could not track down a hitch, let the project go... do it man! i was going to get a small trailer from harbor freight, then a snail cap from a mini van or something, run fleace aroudn the whole thing and fiber glass it all together, then just bondo, sand and paint~! you can make a totally custom trailer!
