I took my Street Bob in for the 1000 mile service but decided to do the second oil change on my own. I bought a service manual (newbie) a while back, and bought the oil and filter today. The change went fine, but I have two questions.
1. The filter wrench I bought has a "window" in it. I was told that it protects the crankshaft position sensor. I couldn't see how that window helped at all. Am I missing something?
2. This HD oil I bought today...does it contain gold or diamonds or something?
ahh not another oil debate... the opening is for that little rubber boot deal right to the right of the oil filter... just un do it, slap in the new oil and your golden!

The oil filter tool prevents damage to the sensor. Without the window in the filter wench it wouldn't fit. Once it passes by the sensor it'll turn free and clear...at least that's my impression.
I bought the hd filter wrench and it just kept slipping ! i could not get the filter off with that tool! I brought iot back to hd and tried another there, with ione of their filters=same amount of slack.Needless to say they took it back. Now i use a standard oil filter wrench , but remove the stator(two allen bolts) it works for me.
I'm going with amsoil from now on full synth for the same price as hd reg oil.

yeah i bought the hd wrench that you use a ratchet with same prob it was slipping on filter.what i did was take some emery cloth ducttaped it to inside circumferance and works great now
K&N filters have a nut on the end to put a socket wrench on works Great!
Ditto--I've used K&N filters since my 05' was new. They got a great review in American Iron sometime back and the nut on the end eliminates the need for an oil filter tool.
