Default Trailer storage

Does anybody in the Midwest or South East store their motorcycle in a cargo trailer? If so, do you see higher accumulations of corrosion and rust? Thanks, Bob

We've stored our bikes in a "Haulmark" trailer for the last 2 years.... from spring thaw til the start of winter, and have had no problems at all. They are never put away dirty, wet or with brake dust on them. They are cleaned after every ride.
We dont have a garage large enough for both bikes, so we keep them out of the elements using the trailer. From November thru April, we do keep them at our local Harley dealer........in their heated facility.

If you do store a bike in a trailer, as mentioned above, do not store them with the motor hot. It will create condensation inside the trailer once you close the doors, even if you have the vent open. My dealership also gave me some very large silica packs that are shipped with every new HD to their shop. I put 4 of them inside the trailer with the bike.

Thanks for the idea Jake. By the time we're done cleaning them up after a ride, the pipes are cold to the touch...... but the idea of getting those silica packs from our dealer is something I'll look into. They would just throw them out anyway......so why not put them to good use.

LWOS, what size trailer do you have? I have a 6x12 and just ordered some E-Track so I can tie down both my bike and my son's in the trailer. Due to the full size of both of your bike, I'm guessing your trailer is a 7x14?

Not to get off topic, but I would worry a little about security (at least where I live) depending on where the trailer was going to be. Especially if I had those big bar & shield signs that people like to put on box trailers.

Jake.......
Our Haulmark is a 12' X 7' and naturally, we have them staggered. The Heritage goes in first.... then the Dyna. We purchased the "Condor Chocks" system for ours. Just drive them in and get off. They are rock solid in those chocks. We only have to ratchet them for traveling......otherwise they stay upright and stable enough to sit or work on without tethers, supports, etc.
Sharknose.........
Both our bikes have the Harley Security System that Honks, Fashes and disables the bikes, plus we have them insured for replacement value. We don't advertise the contents either. No big stickers plastered the outside skin. We dont want to invite trouble. We also have the trailer tongue locked to prevent someone from hooking up to it and driving off.

I too have the Condor and love it. I bought a regular chock for now for my son's Sportster, but I'll see how it goes. I should have no problem fitting both our bikes in the trailer due to the small footprint his bike has. Like you, I have my bike insured for replacement value, a security system, and I secure the trailer too.
