I'm experiencing a strange phenomena with my mirrors. Granted, Dyna's vibrate..... I know that, but my left mirror is totally useless from 1-4th gear. Cant see a thing it shakes so bad.... Settles down in 5th and 6th, but still has some shaking which is annoying. My right mirror is steady, clear and 98% vibration free from 3rd gear up.
I dont have a clue as to why the left side is so bad while the right side is so good. Both mirrors are tightly mounted........
Check your kickstand mount bolt on the very bottom, its a large torx head. I found mine a little loose during my 1000 mile inspection while i had it up on my J&S JACK [ excellent jack for dynas, no shims or straps required ] I noticed after i tightened it down a slight vibe i had that i thought was normal was gone. And certainly check your other bolts on your bike as well, especially the motor mount bolts, and your motor mounts themselves..Also check your fuel filler cap housing mount screws on top of the fuel tank.[ if applicable to your model].
Thanks.......I'll check those items. I'm wondering, after looking at photos of my bike......if the diamondback clutch cable is catching the wind and causing it to vibrate and sending the vibration to the same housing where the mirror is screwed in. I had the standard black cables and stock mirrors last year, and don't remember the left side having so much blurring and distortion.
It's a real mystery.........
Anyone else out there notice a left side mirror vibration and smooth right side?

While you are riding down the road see if you can hold the cutch cable, or tape a peice of foam pipe insulation over it at places you think it may be chaffing or binding and see if the vibes subside. Just a thought.
I have been told that the brake fluid reservoir on the right side acts as sort of a defacto vibration damper. Always made sense to me, and on every harley I've owned with hydraulic brakes, the right mirror has always been a little more use-able.

Any ideas on the cause??? Thanks.
I'm having a similar problem after I had a stage I and slip-ons installed. The dealership can't determine what's causing it. The hunt for the buzz continues...

+1
Also you might want to check the torque on your riser bolts. After playing around with some different bars and risers on my bike I had some buzzy vibes in the grips/bars. Turns out I had tightened them too much and compressed the bushings so they wouldn't absorb any vibes, once I torqued them to spec that buzzing was gone.
That being said my left mirror is always worse than the right but it is still very usable.
I had the same problem with a 2006 Dyna FXd. I went to the dealer and as expected he told me nothing was wrong. The left mirror vibrated so bad I could put my hand behind the mirror and it would slap my wedding band so hard you could hear it. Got worse after installing pipes and the dealer ecm download. I got a pc111 this summer and one of the unexpected benefits was the vibration is darn near gone. I guess my bike was just bad out of tune. I can actually use the left mirror now.
If you didn't do so already,,,,check the 2 screws that hold the hand grip on the the handle bar, I had the same vibe with mine and discovered that the top screw was lose enough to cause the vibration in the mirror ( if memory serves me right I think the screws will be a T27 Torx and will need to be torqued to 40 in lbs I also used the BLUE locktite on
