Question What’s the deal with insurance companies?

When I bought my Dyna I was scrambling to buy a good insurance. I saw Geico ads on TV and I thought since my Quad(ATV) insurance was with Geico powersports I would add my Dyna to it. Sounds fair? Not until the actual numbers where cranked up, Geico promptly gives me a rate of $2400 per year (100K/300K/100K, $500 deductable for collision and comprehensive). I was simple surprised since I had good provable records for last 8 years with only one ticket so far in USA. Insult to injury, I had the certificate from Motorcycle driving school foundation (not that I needed...I have been riding since age 10), thought it would help. Besides, I have my Truck insured under Geico too!
I started making calls, sure enough progressive was around $1100 per year and local state farm agent asked me stop by, initial quote was $890 per year and after processing all my records it’s now $690 per year. I have decided to move my ATV, truck and my Jeep to State Farm!
What a shame to this big time advertiser!!! Ads look promising but that's the best they can do... I think they need to put their act together.

Ok I'm done with my rant.

Remember I’m not associated with any of these companies so I have nothing to benefit by making allegation, just putting the insurance company’s BS out to public.

I was in the same situation except GEICO was considerably less than all the other carriers I checked with. But in the end you pay for what you get as I have found since my accident GEICO has been no help and its up to me to go after the other parties insurance. As soon as the dust setlles on my claim I'm going back to State Farm.

I got quotes from Geico several times in the last few years. They have never been close to what I pay with American Family.
When I had Geico about 20 years ago, they had OK prices, but then I had an accident and had to work with their claims folks. It was immediately clear that all they wanted from me was my premium payments. I dropped them as soon as the claim was paid. Got curious what their rates were once they started advertising to the general public (they used to only insure government workers).

I had Geico for many years until they screwed me on my first claim with them. State Farm is cheaper and has better service.

Call me old fashion but I want a agent I can lay into if I have to. These internet and phone insurance companies have noone that cares if you drop them. My agent cares if I drop him so he is going to fight for me if I need him. He went after another insurance company over a door ding on my wifes van. Thats worth a little extra to me.

That said my insurance was only $550

And now you know how they pay for all that advertising!

I also agree with bberck
I want an agents office I can walk in too and deal with in person. Yes, I have State Farm. And they have been fair to me for going on 20 years now.
We have had 3 or 4 claims (none of them our fault), and they paid up promptly and fairly every time.

One of the claims was for an uninsured motorist incident. I had to pay my deductable, and then State Farm went after the scumbag and didn't let up until they got their money back. Took 2 years, but they were relentless. And when they got their money back, they refunded my deductable.

Had Geico 17 years ago and they left me stranded out of state at Christmas without insurance when they canceled my policy because of a mistake they made. When they called two weeks later to say they made a mistake my answer was "Yep, you sure did, don't call me anymore." and I hung up.
Fug Geico and their gecko screwing caveman.

Well, as of the moment, I don't have insurance on my ride. Been looking around but its crazy expensive for me, being that I'm young (21) and have had several tickets and have totaled a car (not my fault..)

That being said, what would you guys suggest? I need to get something ASAP, as its completely irresponsible of me not to have insurance on my bike..
