Default Stage 1 upgrade help

I have just purchased V&H straight shot slip-ons for my 2008 FXDC, can i put them on with out doing A/C and Re-map and run the bike without doing harm, will it run hotter? Can HD do a stage 1 down load without having to purchase a management system and at what stage will this need to be done, due to financial restraints it will be next month before I can get the A/C and if needed the month after that the fuel management system, Looking at the V&H fuelpak, any one had experience with this,

You can add pipes without changing your ECM. When you add the pipes and AC you must get either the stage 1 download from Harley or a fuel management system and remap.
At present I have the pipes and AC changed on my 09 ultra. I had to get the stage 1 download from HD because there is not much out there yet for 09's.

The stage 1 runs great for now. No popping on deceleration and if very strong. Good enough for me for a while.

Remember as soon as you put a high air flow air cleaner on your bike that is when you have to remap or retune or add a tuner of some type.

Default Stage I

I have a 2008 FXDL and put Screaming Eagle II exhaust without anything else and it runs fine. You will have no problem. The Stealer can install the screaming eagle air filter and remap you EFI. You don't need a fuel managment system fir a stage I. That being said, if you want to upgrade more or are going to change stuff often then a fuel managment system is the way to go.

The Stealer here charges$150.00 for the download and $85.00 to install.

Hope this helps

I would go ahead and do high flow and stage 1 map the bike will run and perform better. You will not need a fuel management system if thats all you plan on doing as others have pointed out.
