if i change out my screaming eagle air filter to a big sucker etc.... wll i need a download for the fuel management. I ask this because it will likely change the amount of air coming in but not sure, any help out there for this question?
I think it will re-adjust itself a little but to take full advantage a power commander would give you a good deal of bang for your buck...I may be wrong...I am sure others will chime in. I know if you only change the pipes you don't need a download.
But the air intake may be different story...$239.00 for a PCIII from Fuelmoto is a good deal. Well worth it over a download. I did the download and if i knew what i knew now i would've called fuelmoto and saved that $150 i spent on the download...
If you have the SE stage 1 already, chances are you already have the stage 1 upgraded programing. From my past experence, if you change your air cleaner to another one and already have the programing, even one that is competly open like the 63-1125P for example, you will not need to reprogram the computer.
The short answer is no, you do not need the download. If you do a search on here you will find that the HD download is pretty much a waste of money. All it does in reality is extend the rev limiter to 6500, I think, rpm. Even if you do the pipes and a/c the stock ecm will recognize the change and adjust. However, to make the most of your changes you should look into a fuel management system. Of which there are many, and many opinions on which is best.
