what happened was this, we were at a bike rally and there was a bar that all the riders were drinkin outside, and there was alotta furloin in the crowd so totally forgetting my wife was on the back i cracked it and she almost fell off,hehe, so she says, im sure it was over dramatized, but she now she wants the backrest, i told her to get an 883

Go with detacheable. I put on the rigid mount on my street bob and HATED what it did to the look. The backrest someone asked about I think is the one mentioned on page one- haulen ***. I think that is also easy to get on-off.

The ONLY problem with the removeable back rest is it sticks forward and with the stock seat your wife will have the side arms of the back rest sticking into her butt. (My wife did, she actually got brused) The only solution is to upgrade the seat to a REAL two up seat. The stock seat's rear section is useless as a real passanger seat except for very short rides ... too thin!

I have the Harley backrest and luggage rack. I agree the backrest spoils the line of the bike but the Kuryakyn roll bag I have on the rack actually negates that and in my view makes the bike look OK again, well at least a lot better!
