I put Wide Glide trees and rear fender on my Street Bob with a 120/70 21 front and Carlini Lowdowns. With a tank lift on it it looks slick and kind of "pro street" I think it would only look better if it had more rake (ie Wide Glide) I think the look your going for could only be achieved with a Wide Glide. Leave it Blue, change the bars and front tire then go from there.
Muddyape, the bike looks great. The more I see the bike mudd has posted, the more I'm not sure of changing the rear fender. I will probably keep the color, and I might powder coat the fork lowers the same color as the bike. Not sure if that would be over kill or not. How is the pull back on the Lowdowns ? I haven't considered a tank lift. I don't see the improvement for the money. Also, did you get the 120/70 on a stock sized Wide Glide wheel, or did you have to go wider ?
I haven't considered a tank lift. I don't see the improvement for the money.
The tank lift really does make a diference in the bike's lines, but it's all about personal preference. As for the cost, you can do one yourself for next to nothing, or even if you use jackyl's kit, you're still not looking at a very big expense. That bike mud posted would look noticeably different with a tank lift, but whether it would look better is a matter of taste.
I don't want another "glide". I am just thinking that I like the Wide Glide front end, with the rake and 21" wheel. I like the length of the bike (being 6'3"), but I am thinking that I'd like to see something unique. There aren't hardly any Wide Glides with the standard Dyna rear fender, plus drag bars. I think the big radius pipes look best with the wrap around rear fender, the radius of the fender matches the radius of the pipes.
Sounds good to me
As you can see on my bike I like drag bars, I think my rise about is 8"
I think I am in the minority, but I like the bob fender
To each his own!!
The Deuce fender's dimensions are a little different than the rest of the Softails as I understand ... might not be a bolt on without some further modifications or work around.
Your concept sounds pretty good--by going with the round fender it would be differentiated from Fat Bobs; if you keep the 21" wheel, likewise ....
Not sure how the color coordinated PC on the lower fork tube would look, maybe someone with photo shop will do you the favor of doing a mock-up. Might look cool, or might look gay ...
I think it is time muddyape changed his name to muddydrag ... he swapped out his apes for drags a while back, now (J/K)
One of the things I really like about my WG is the bobtail fender, my own preference I would never change that. I did swap the front out to a wider fender with a 19" wheel and 110 tire, made a huge difference, not to mention gave it a unique look. With the Fat Bob headlight I call it my Fat Glide now, better than a Wide Glide..... It's all about finding what appeals to your individual tastes. I have made a few changes I have regretted, so getting some feedback can be a good thing before you drop the cash.
