so as I was on the freeway this morning my bike stalled when I applied the clutch and was about to shift down. I did hold the clutch in for a second or two longer then needed before I was about to shift, then it stalled. I was able to start it back up and ride off, but as I applied the clutch in to shift down I could feel it wanted to shut off. This happened about 1000 miles back but it hasn't happened since today. Anyone know what could be the problem?

I had the exact same thing happen to me. Also at 15,000 miles. I was at cruising speed, pulled in the clutch to shift, and she died on me. I was able to start it back up while coasting and safely exit the freeway.
The cause of my stall: The stealership. I was riding home from my 15,000 mile service when it stalled. They didn't fully seat the spark plug wire on my rear cylinder! The wire was resting on top of the plug. I'm guessing the tech didn't push it on hard enough and it vibrated off while I was on the freeway. Could have gotten me killed...
Check your plug wires on both ends. While you're at it, check your battery cables.
I'm never again going to leave an appointment without first doing a walk-around with someone from the service dept.
my 08 bob stalled twice on me so far. both times i was slowing to a stop and then it just shut off. kicked her right back on and everything was ok. the motor sounds real funny then just cuts off. i checked my diagnoistic trouble codes and nothing was tripped. i dont know what caused my problem but i'm hoping its the last time.
i would do as compgeek suggested. and maybe even check your trouble codes to see if everything is ok. just search out trouble codes and you'll find a tread that shows you how to check them and what a code means. good luck
I pulled my error codes after my stall and I had a few "Rear cylinder failed to fire" events. The cause was obvious in my case. Major codes (like mine) should trigger the "check engine" light.
Most dealerships will plug in your bike and pull diag codes for you free of charge. It's worth doing.
