Hello all,
I have noticed of late that my bike is popping a little more when i back off the throttle.
I have only had the bike 2+ months.
The guy i got it from only rode it 1x a month....I ride virtually everyday; would that make any difference?
The bike starts & runs great
The only thing I have done is change all the fluids to Amsoil
mine started acting up and turned out to be the ethanol. Now I search out ethanal free gas, no problems. If that runs out, I guess it will be another trip to the dyno

I didnt know that there was still ethanol free gas still available!!
Check for a exhaust leak by the cylinders. It there is a leak that will make it pop on decel. Most bikes with performance ac and exhaust need a EFI tuner to tune the popping out. I used a PCIII to add fuel to the MAP at the 0 throttle position to removing the popping. If it is a carb'ed bike you need different jets. Hope that helps.
you could have developed an intake leak which is causing the bike to run leaner enhancing the popping sound.
the gas may cause it.
the exhaust may have a leak...
air pressure with temperature change.
the AMSoil may have your bike running cooler and the bike is actually richer now causing the pop.
1st check the plugs...
if they are sooty black you are too rich
pitted white too lean
this will help which road you need to go down.

+1 on what rounder said. Could be any one of those. The plugs are a good way to see how the bikes running. I had some popping on decel also but since the motor work was done its more of a growl now!
Ethanol free gas is still available in some areas. I live in AR, have to hunt for it. Some stations that have ethanol free gas advertise the fact. I use it whenever I can in everything I have. I suspect the days ethanol free gas may draw to a close, unless people get hungry enough to put a stop to turning our food into fuel for vehicles. My car doesn't seem to mind it, however, the Fat Bob does. I also have a BMW K1200GT, it runs fine with it but my mileage suffers. The Bob sounds like @#@ on decell when I'm using it, mileage also suffers and it just doesn't seem to run as well. I'm sure that can be at least partially corrected by a new tune. I have the 103 kit with cams and Bassani exhaust on mine.
