Mine is a pearl white/gold 2007. I'll never trade it. I've had no issues, other than the front end clunk that was fixed under warranty.

10/11/08 - in front of Rockingham Raceway, NC.

Wideglides are beautiful bikes. I am about the same size as you, 5'10", with 30" inseam. The mini apes are pretty comfortable with the windshield, but without it feels like I fighting the wind for the bike above 55mph. Not sure if the 08's and 07's have the same handle bars, the 08's have internal wiring.

I had no probs with mine so far... 6600 miles. I am EXACTLY your size and am very comfortable with the mini apes tilted back just a little so that the are in line with the forks. See below. I also added Kury front pegs with heel rests. 50 bucks on ebay. These make the ride even more comfy for me. But besides the pipes, my favorite accessory is the quick detach windshield (not shown). Check with hockey8787 as he has one for sale... cheap. I just bought a backrest off him. He's a good guy.

Topspin:

The 07's came with the mini-apes and were also internally wired.

I traded out my bars for wild one 501s. I'll bet they are exactly what you are looking for. Different look and feel with about the same reach and height.

FXDWGs are great rides. I have a mustang seat with back rest and can ride all day with no problems.

Enjoy the new scoot.

Rich

Thanks Rich, I'll run the VIN as you and others have suggested. I'll look into 501's. Are you happy with the quality? Do they look good on the bike (any pics apart the one in your signature)? Were they easy to install? Did you need to change cables? Do they have significanty more pullback than the street slammers? I have on order Jackyl's 2'' tank lift. Do you (or anybody else) know whether it will work with the 501's?

Re the mustang seat, which model is it? I like the daytripper (low profile seats in general) but I heard that it moves you back a little. It might make ithard for me to reach the forward controls.

I like the looks of the Sidekick and Sidecick Custom seats. Any changes in position in relation to the standard seat (e.g., lower, back)? I don't want to buy anything that would move me backwards.

I did have the handle bar replacement and the steering head washer.
No engine problems, in fact at 6500 miles I started making engine modifications of my own to make it more fun.

You can tell if the handle bars have been done by looking where the wires come through bars between the clamps. If it hasn't been changed the hole will have the shape of a paper clip or like a sportster air cleaner cover, if it has been changed the shape of the hole will not have parallel sides and be shaped more like a 07 dyna a/c cover.
Thanks Newhawk for the info. Re the emblem maybe it has to do with the color of the bike. At least the 06 cobalt blue one had a red background while the 07 cobalt blue a blue background. Maybe I let the emblem as is, if the color fades so fast there is no point in changing it.

Here's the '07

Thanks Jason. I am sorry to hear you had to give up your 06 bike, and ended up with one that you like less. I pretend that I did not hear that the 06 bikes are better, it would make me more hapy with my purchase I like the sissy bar/rack setup you run on your bike. I am undecided betweeen this setup and one with detachable backrest and a sport rack. Any pros/cons between these set ups apart from cosmetic differences? E.g., do sport racks support bigger bags? But I guess I already know what your answer will be since you chose the same set up on the 07 bike.

Longhair, what's the front end clunk? Did it have to do with the bars? Great looking bike BTW!
