the wrap is about $30.00, you will need to remove the exhaust from the bike, remove the heat shields if any or if you can, wrap then re-install. Depends on how much time and patience you have. It think it looks awesome on the right bike. I will definitely be doing it on the project bike i plan on doing this next fall after the riding season is over.
When you start, wrap around about 2 times then start to over lap. You can uses some safety wire or a hose clamp. Most use the safety wire. You will also want to wet the wrap as well to make it easier to wrap. After you wrap and go for a ride the water is eliminated by the heat.
If you look at some bikes that have it done you can see how they attached it.
I just picked up some wrap ($50 for 50 feet) - Pep Boys didn't have (or even know what I was asking for) so had to go to a hot-rod store. Also picked up some paint from them that you are apparently supposed to spray over the wrap when done. What I'm not sure is do I have to install the pipes, get the wrap hot (and dry for the water) and then uninstall and paint - or can I let the pipes/wrap air dry and then paint?
I wrapped my pipes on my '06 Street Bob to the Slip-ons with DEi wrap and it looks killer! I bought it from www.eastwoodco.com and I got the stainless straps and a can of Hi-Temp Silicone Coating.
