thanks guys...I think I have finally made my decision. I am going to go with the SE dyna..the exact one in the picture...going to be heading by the dealer saturday to put it on layaway for the winter so I can pay a little on it and have a bigger down payment.
I love the idea of modifying the bike I just didn't want to buy a base model and build it up to the SE spec and more. this way I can start off with the SE spec and mod from there. Like I said in an earlier post. I have my dads CVO ultra classic and a new tri-glide coming in march that I will be able to tour with...this is the fun bike...now let the suggestions start for mods
Congratulations on making the decision! That is usually the hardest part.
The first mod I would do (and did it to both of my bro's CVO bikes) is put in some CVO255 or CVO257 cams. We put 255s in the Dyna and 257s in the Ultra. Makes a world of difference in the sound and the pull. Also, he put D&D exhaust on both of them.
Great choice. The dealer here had one of those a while back, and it's one of the best looking rides I've ever seen. You won't likely pass yourself on the road very often, either.
Lol I know there is a biased opinion here. haha I just happen to be browsing the dealer website and on the home page was this bike...I fell in love with it. Does anyone here have issues with riding with a passenger? Is the passenger comfortable for long periods of time? I will mostly be riding solo but the occasional passenger if the need comes up.
As for the cams is there anyplace where i can read up on them?? I know I am going to have to wait until the bike factory warranty is over before I do any serious modifications...
thanks so much guys I can't wait until next spring...

personally if you have that kind of $$$ do not spend the coin on the SE... get a stock dyna and drop the $$$ where it matters, motor and performance.... why pay for a bike that was already modded out for you... my dad is doing it but that is mainly cause he is done wrenching (why not i do his work now anyway) your 25 brother...s till got lots of wrenches to turn... if you have riden them both... you would not be asking this ?... the dyna handles like NO other harley, hence the reason there is one in my garage
I agree with this. I bought the closest thing to what I wanted my bike to eventually be, and am taking it from there.

All of us customize our bikes but when it comes to trade-in, they look in the book and say...."'06 FXDB? We'll give ya $8grand unless you start taking stuff off...."
I don't know about the rest of you, but I didn't buy, nor am I modifying, my Street Bob with the resale value in mind. What's the point of that? It takes any fun out of it, at least for me. Everything I'm doing, have done, or will do it is because it's within the parameters of my vision for what that bike should be. I wouldn't go with an SE Dyna because it's someone else's vision of what the bike should be...I'd end up taking a lot of that "performance" stuff off to swap in what I want to see.

Enjoy it! You made a solid choice between that and the Rocker C.....the Dyna handles better and will be more utilitarian as well for any long trips you might take.
