Another vote for Metzelers, excellent handling and better ride than stock Dunlops.

Another vote for Metzeler's. Night and Day difference from Dunlop's. Much better handling wet or dry, no more wondering on rain groves or cracks in the road. I don't care if I don't get quiet as many miles out of them because they feel so much better. Much safer tire in my opinion.

Good Luck!

I have a 2005 FXDX and it's time to replace tires
I have decided on the Metzler ME880's as I have heard more about them than Avons.
My question is has anyone gone up one size in the rear ( 150 stock to 160 )Metzler calls this a stage 1 upgrade.
What is involved in the stage 1 upgrade and is it worth it or should I just stick with the stock 150 rear?
I ride mostly twisty backroads and some rain....mostly one up/solo.

Metzeler 880 on my Dyna. Top two complaints with the stock Dunlops: 1) Wet weather slide. 2) Rain groove wiggle. Both eliminated in the Metzeler. Too soon to tell about mileage but if they are even close, I will use them again.

Over the last 45K miles on a '97 WG and 25K miles on a Sportster, I tried a number of differant tires.

Both styles factory Dunlops were OK. But just OK. Nothing to wwrite home about. SOlid, reliable, smooth, and decent traction.

Michelin Commanders were the worst. I could esily spin the rear tire coming out of a corner. Got rid of those pretty quick. That was an expensive experiment.

Last set I used was Avon roadrunners. Excellent tire. Much more stable on grooved and irregular pavement than a Dunlop. Especially that skinny front tire on the WG. Very predictable in rain and snow. Wore about the same as the other.

The next set I buy will be Avons.
