Today it happened. As I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on my way home from work, I glanced down at the odo and it read '503'. Due to work constraints, needing to haul something in my car or a multitude of other reasons (excuses?), it has taken me over a month to get there, but I finally made it. I have been baby-ing the sh^t out of the new Bob from the get-go, trying to get thru the break-in period by the book. I probably over did it, but, never having purchased a new-in-box scoot before, I wanted to play it safe. ANYWAY, now that I've hit the magic number (the first one anyway, still gotta get that 1k service outta the way), tomorrow I start riding it 'like I stole it', or at least like I borrowed it without asking.
Still Remaining To Be Seen: How long can I endure these uncomfortable-assed mid controls?
I know the feeling. I think I am at 450. The weather hasn't cooperated with me very much until the last couple of weeks. I will definately hit 500 this weekend as long as the wind stays down a little.
I know that feeling. I rode 240 miles last Saturday just so I could get the 500 out of the way (and it was 31 degrees when I left). As soon as I hit the 500 it was on and it runs pretty darn good. I'm at 700 miles as of now and I've got an appointment on Monday for the 1000 mile service, so I have to ride this weekend (rain or shine).
The one I wanted to see was 2003 miles on my '03 but it came at midnight in a horrific thunderstorm riding into Sturgis that year. I didn't realize that I'd missed it until the next day, right about the time I noticed an unexplained dent in the top of my tank and about dropped the bike at a gas station.
i got mine up to 750 but i dont see me spending the money on a 1000 mile oil change for 300 bucks
I know, and it IS absurd ($310 at my shop), but I'm gonna do it since is against the rules at my apt complex to do any kind of vehicle maintenance on the property.
Plus (mostly), there's nowhere to get rid of the old juices. NOW, my question is: Why doesn't that push my next service interval to SIX thousand vs FIVE (1000 + 5000 = 6000)?
