I found a set of the 11180 pipes ('08 Custom Chrome catalog at p. 7.06) at North Coast Thunderbikes I am going to pick up in a couple of weeks. I am thinking of just slipping the stock FXD taper (muffler) on for now; and, maybe get a "cocktail shaker" or a "fishtail" eventually.
I think that'll capture the look of the '58 FL Duo Glide (pictured below).

Thanks for the pics brother.... Yeah i am digging that.. I would like to get a custom 2-1 like that the ustom chrome head pipe set is for a softaildo they make it for a dyna aswell? What do you think of just chopping the stocker and adding somthing to it?
I would like to see a few pictures of this one. I am not saying it can't be done but I don't think I have enough vision to make it happen.
You dont think the Fat Bob has a oldschool look to it? Add some 16 inch spoke wheels with some whitewall tires a nice goodson aircleaner and some fishtails or any pipes that sweep up and there she is..

I've 'mocked' it up to my bike ... I can't see a reason why it won't fit. The geometry of the motor is the same for Softail and Dyna (only difference between 88A and 88B is counterbalancing of the B-type). I was a little concerned that the oil filler/dipstick might be obstructed by the pipe, but I allayed my concern ... I'm just going to go for it.
The thing is that the support bracket for Softail is mounted to the frame, whereas the Dyna bracket is mounted on the transmission. I may have to ask a friend to weld the bracket using my left over parts and the bracket supplied with the pipes.
There are several Dyna forum members who've used Softail pipes on their bikes ... I think figuring out the support bracket is the only 'work around' needed. If you do a search, you should see a few threads on the subject.
One other concern for the later models is the O2 sensors on the pipes ... I supposed you could just leave those leads off, but not sure what it would do to your EFI ...? A question for the more technically inclined EFI computer geeks ... anyone???
