Default Side Mounted Plate

Hopefully you guys can help out with another issue.....I have a couple of questions on side-mount licence plates.

I'm thinking of having Fab Kevin whip me up a custom mount; he'll make it any way I want (axle mount, shock mount, vertical, horizontal.....) but I need to decide. Check out his site; pretty cool

http://www.fabkevin.com

Anyway - is it better to mount it off the lower shock mount or the axle? why?

What is the size of the mounting hole required for the axle (2008 dyna) and shock bolt? (bike is in storage or I'd run out and measure them myself)

If I go with a horizontal mount will I run into cornering clearance problems on the left side moreso than if I mount it vertically?

thanks for the info

I started out building mine for the shock bolt, but ended up making it vertical/axle mounted.
Its heavy metal so I dont think I'll ever have a problem.
I was going to have to replace the shock bolt with a longer one, axle mount was just too simple.
I think I made a 1" hole in it.
Couple of pics of it in my gallery.
