Hey here is a cheap air cleaner cover for under 10 bucks. Get a 6 inch clean out cover from Home depot or Lowes Plumbing department. They are a low grade chrome, and already have a hole in the middle, but sand em up and paint it flat black. For you blacked out guys. My bike in my signature has it before got something different, so I painted it and gave it to my night train buddy.
I currently have the stock air cleaner on my 08 Fat Bob. I'd like to get a smaller air cleaner and cover (something like the round one on the Cross Bones), but I don't want increased air flow. All of the smaller air cleaners and covers I've seen increase air flow. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Only way you can go smaller is go round..looks better and with the screaming eagle or K&N (or any other high flow filter) you'll be so glad you did.

Your answer is in your original question. Get one from a Crossbones and put it on. Surely you should be able to come across a take off for a reasonable price. That gives you a stock A/C set up with no tune required.
Ok dude if you really don't want to go stage 1 there is a cover fix for the teardrop stock chrome cover in the under 50$ thread but the home hardware plumbing thing will do if you just want to try it out without cutting. You will however have to cut your plastic backing plate, just dis-assemble it pass the bolts thru the holes make a mark around your stock filter, cut your backing plate -I would try to leave a couple millimeters so the filter can't edge off in any direction- , and re-assemble it! Me i kept the assembly and it's in a cabinet in my living room! Installed AN Big sucker in it's place !
I too was not to thrilled about the stock chrome cover. I went with a stage 1 but decided to try a stock wrinkle black cover on my Street Bob. This is an option if you want to keep everything stock but change the look. I think it made a world of difference to me any way . Just another idea.
thats what i'm looking for, an aftermarket aircleaner that still uses a stock element so I would assume no tune would be needed
I don't believe the element is the only limiting factor in the stock aircleaners flow. I could be wrong but if you change the cover and expose more element you may need to tune it.
My understanding is that you only need to re-tune if you do both the A/C and the exhaust. If you just change one, the other will not allow that greater flow.
This proved out with me when I did the whole stage 1 thing with SE slip-ons. For about $1,000 invested I got precisely NOTHING in Tq or hp increase. As soon as I yanked the SE slip-ons and replaced them with Vance & Hines, the smile was back.
