I found that Krylon high heat gives the best finish. scuffed the KROME with 220 then held the can about 2 feet away and it gives you a light texture that resembles ceramic coating (have had people ask if it was) removed heat shields for first application but the few times I had to put another coat for rock chips I just covered the rest of bike with sheets and sprayed without removing. photobucket isn't working for me so here's a link

I have a dumb question. What is self etching primer, and where do you get it?

I used to paint the pipes on a CB750 when they started rusting near the heads. It looked just as good on the sanded down section as it did on the rest of the pipes. I couldn't afford new pipes anyway.

one other thing, your turn singals, are they from a night rod special. I want to put those same ones on my new bike(fat bob) but in the harley catalog they only sell them for the vrod. which I also have, I own a 08 night rod special and it has those same signals. let me know. Thanks

Not to hijack, but I posted the same question over in Sporty land and after reading this post, have a stupid question. When sanding with 400 dry, is the goal to just scuff it up or to remove all the chrome? After sanding just wipe down with rubbing alcohol? How many coats of self etch primer would you all recommend, and will it fill in the scratch marks from the sanding? Thanks for any info!
