It looks like a spare to me.. Save it if it is an important one you will find out eventually!!

check your front exhaust bracket. The one that screws up to the motor.

Maybe you picked it up somewhere in the tread of your shoe or boot, and it came out right there. Might not even belong to your bike.

I wouldn't put it in the toolbox. I'd carry it along with the right torx wrench so I could put it back when I break down.
Did you have a buddy (like me) there while you were washing the bike? Throwing a spare screw on the ground sounds like something I would do.
