bike hits neutral when going from first to second

I had the same thing

on my Street Bob. Talked to a Harley buddy of mine and he suggested I make sure I'm bringing in the clutch lever enough. I started consciously squeezing in the lever a bit more and it fixed the problem. never had a prob with it in other gears and this fixed it. go figure. give it a shot. Cheapest repair I've ever had.

Wow, the 1/4 to 1/2 turn out on the adjusting screw really seems small, I guess MOCO has done something really different. Both of my bikes take 1/2 to 1 turn out from just being seated. Good luck with this situation.

bottom line is , this just inconsistent shifting from me, or potential tranny problem?

If you mean you keep your feet on the highway pegs and actually try to upshift with your heels, then that is your problem.
