It has done it every so often since I got it, but it is doing it a lot worse lately. Ithas doneit while accelerating AND while decelerating. Say i'm going along, accelerating in 3rd and I go to hit 4th...pull in clutch, shift..let out on clutch...and it's like i'm in neutral..or like the clutch didn't let out or something.
If I pull the clutch back in, and try to shift back down, it grinds but 'kicks' back to 2nd.
If I try to shift up, I usually have to kick the shifter twice and then it's in 5th gear when it finally gets back in gear.
ok I have gone through the same thing
first thing to check is your gear oil aka trany fluid it may be over full or under full
second check your cluthch adjustment
third almost hit it on the head Shifting fork adjustment
also open your primary and see if you have a bolt broken or loose in your clutch basket causing your return spring not to expand correctly as needed
WHAT EVER YOU DO DO NOT TRY AND JAM IT IN GEAR this will just bend and break your ratchet top and can also cause you to bend your shift linkage

Engraved Rebellion: Inside Bundnerbike's Glam Rock II
Thanks for all the replies, guys. Crusher, I will try to find all of the necessary info out online to do the things you suggested. I lost my job, and am just getting back to work now. Start a new job Monday morning. After I get sorted out, first thing i'm buying is a service manual..
I was experiencing the exact same thing, had just had a full service and used a thicker than normal BelRay oil since I live in a hot climate. After explaining the problem to my mechanic he changed the fluid for a lighter Harley oil and the problem was fixed. it was only a ÂŁ20 dollar fix and wasn't looking forward to opening up my gearbox...so very happy. Hope you have similar luck!
