Hey, thanks for info on the p/n. will call Cometic and see what they say.
I have been noticing the oil spray over in that area for while now and think the overfilling may have made the problem worse.
Appreciate all your inputs. Will post when i get fixed and advise on the difference of the HD and Coemtic seal so others will know also.
Thanks !
Did you ever fix this on your bike? I am having the same leak, and will be tackling it as well soon.

I have noticed that these forum threads are 7 years old so there must not be much talk on this site.. I have a 2006 Super Glide Custom EFI.. I had a primary oil leak from where the shifting rod comes through the primary cover. There is a rubber spacer between the shift lever and the primary cover.. this I was told was the problem... "WRONG".. Only after I take the cover off, do I find that there is a small circle type gasket that has one side sticky and it is sandwiched in-between the inner, and outer primary covers. I have seen on here that there is a seal that from what I have read... is the problem.. but I don't have a seal as mentioned.. just a gasket type seal.. repaired myself.. takes about 1 hour... by the way the rubber spacer $2.00 The gasket $1.05 (bought and extra ) Oil for Primary $4.95 Primary cover gasket $30.00 ( go figure ) so far no leaks Hope this helps if you have the same problem

I hope you didn't toss your cover gasket. I'm on my fourth reuse, no leaks yet. I'll pay the $30 when it does but not before then.
After doing a lot of checking with 2 different Harley shops in the area, I replaced the gasket that is sandwiched in between the inner & outer primary covers.. Everything looked great for about 2 days.. then the leak came back. So back off comes the primary cover and this time I was told to put the new gasket on, and then put a little silicone on the seal itself to make a seal.. after about a month of riding.. HAY NO LEAKS!!
When the designers in Milwaukee designed the cases on this bike, I can't believe that they couldn't come up with a better seal, other than a piece of gasket material and they expected that to seal the oil from leaking out through the shifter rod. A little extra machining and a rubber O ring.. and NEVER have a leak or headache..
