I know this isn't really an answer but "it Depends" do you have forward controls? how long are your legs? I'm 5'9" with a 32" inseam and with the standard mid controls the 11" 412s feel pretty good. But if my legs were any longer I can see where it would start to feel cramped pretty fast.I say if you are going to go with 11" get the Heavy Duty, a couple of guys on here have blown the seals on the standards. Also if you going to go that low a firmer suspension is going to help with stability and cornering clearance.

Thanks for all the replies... Im looking to lower it a little but not to much, there is a set of 440's for $200 i am looking at but they are 11" and i dont want the rearend so low verses the front being stock that it makes it look stupid. I am running the stock mid controls with highway pegs.

which is not adjustable on progressive 440 or 412.... hence the problem.

what does the length of the shocks have to do with the distance from your seat to the controls?

It depends on your riding style, the lower you go the sooner you,ll be dragging bits on the floor. If thats not an issue go for it.
I think ED means that with the lower shocks your knees are gonna be a little more cramped, especially with the mid pegs.

I have 440's as well, I love them. The best shocks out there, very smooth.

For the long haul the 412 will beat you up but If you are into the whole shot the 412 is great! My bike has no rear squat and keeps the front wheel on the ground at the green light.
