Sold my Roadster this fall and looking to buy another Harley before next riding season. Saw the Fat Bob in a dealership this weekend and man that bike looks cool. I like it a lot; just concerned how the bike is for two-up riding, no long distance riding just 100 mile rounds trips? One of the reason I sold my roadster was lack of room and comfort when riding two-up. Also, had the complete stage 1 done on my Roadster and it ran like a scolded dog just curious how the Fat Bob would compare to the 1200 Roadster in performance.
Hey, my wife loves riding on my 09 Fat Bob we have done some long trips and are planning for Daytona this year but she wants a back rest for that trip.. But I am not sure what is comfy for you we used to ride my 06 Big Bear Chopper and she rode on the fender no pillion pad lol and she hated that so going to the Fat Bob was like a caddy you know.. The performance on the Fat Bob stock is ok stock my 109 wheelbase Chopper with a S&S 100 motor very simliar to the TC 96 and my chop felt alot better thru out the whole powerband... But you need to at least do pipes air cleaner and tune that really wakes up the TC 96... Good luck get the Fat Bob you wont regret it..
I wasn't even thinking about buying a Harley, then I saw a FatBob and I knew I was getting one. Now I just need to quit saying "And then I'm done with it", it never stops.
See my sig for the seat I put on per my wife's request. Its the Harley Sundowner bucket (comfortable!!) with passenger pillion. Got the back rest with rack too. Its a new bike so I havent taken my wife for a ride yet but she sat on it wih me and she said it was comfortable.
I'm hoping theres adequate 2 up power or else I'll have to put cams and tuning in it (damn!)
I had a Roadster 2004 with Stage 1(quick one) , I don't have a Fat Bob but the suspension on the Dyna alone will be more than worth the move on the bike. The 6th speed for Highway cruising is a great addition also.
Sundowner with the backrest is the hot ticket. Brought my GF on a week long trip last summer and we were both suprised at how the Fat Bob exceeded our expectations. And as far as the ride, dominicp7 hit the nail on the head. The suspension is head and shoulders above the sportys.
As has been said the Fat Bob is great for two up riding but you'll need to change the seat and perhaps add a back rest. My wife likes mine but I still have the stock seat. It's so thin for the passenger that her butt digs into the back rest supports. With a "normal" thickness two up seat this won't be an issue anymore. I'll be upgrading my seat this coming spring when riding season starts again here up north!
