I think ANYONE that can afford a Harley is rich.....
Oh yeah... I inherited my '96 T-Bird as well.
No insults meant Rounder. I don't know you, where ya been and who ya know or what you seen. I can only speak for myself and my own experiences, we all got here through different paths. I hope one day mine will lead to someplace as nice as where you're at now; but for the moment it's cold & wet and I gotta head down the mountain in the rain to fetch some drugz before the pharmacy closes.

Right about now I'd trade my WG for the handling on your SG!

Anyways seeing someone fortunate enough to be able to ride that beautiful wideglide you have makes me wish I had it as good as you.
Easy, Rounder.... Like I said... No insult meant.

You didn't have to edit your post to make it seem like you're struggling for money (I'm guessin' that's why you changed it). If you really wanted my bike, why didn't you just buy it instead of dropping all that $$$$$ blacking out your SG, adding fancy pegs, grips, shocks, new wheels, custom pipes, new headlight, taillight, custom sissy bar and god knows how much in trim crap (like your cherry plug wires)? Jesus, you could buy my WG with your spare parts, LOL!! You ain't fooling nobody.

If you really gotsta have the Wide Glide, sell that sweet Thunderbird you said somebody gave/left you and start your own Dyna collection!

Lightbulb

With that said if you wish to solve the problem of draining your battery and IF the HID light is the culprit than turn it off or on as it should have been done in the very beginning before the government got involved. What I mean is in the time I started riding it was thought that you would have the good sense to turn on your headlight yourself. So much for that.

Now to fix the problem:

Get yourself a relay. The basic 4 pin will do but if you get a 5 pin forget 87a

Battery to pin # 30 (18 gauge or better)
pin # 87 to HID ballast power (18 gauge or better)
Pin # 85 to switch > than > switch to positive 20 ~22 Gauge
Pin # 86 to ground 20 ~22 Gauge
Pin # 87a leave alone

It is up to you to find out if your headlight is draining the battery.

Extra reading: HDF Link Please glance through if you like. This has to do with

*Headlight switches
*Stopping to help someone brke down on the side of the road.

Great idea!

Where do you propose to install the relay..., maybe I wire it inline and hide it in the headlight housing without having to chop my wiring again?

I think I just answered my own question.

**Just visited your site and checked out the PDF on relay install for HID lamps. VERY COOL SITE! Thanks again, FastHarley!!

Talking Don't knock it 'till you try it.

Its called EBay. And don't dog Xenon less you tried it -you got no idea.

Think about it... Xenon on yer sled....How many times have you pulled an O-face rounding a dark corner that turned out to be a decreasing radius turn??

The difference is so dramatic, you'll think the headlight bulb is out if you ride another bike, lol.

Couldn't recommend one more strongly, decent lighting at night is as important as keeping your rubber on the road. And during the daytime? Please. If it saves your life just once, would it be worth it?

Didn't think I'd dig the headlight case much, but even that turned out to be a nice match too. No complaints and no regrets.

96 t-bird worth 3 grand at best....current dyna.10K still don't have enought to buy your bike....yeah those wires have to go back to black.... $13 minus a ten dollar off next purchase from local H-D...only 3 bucks.
I think it is funny we are having a discussion over who has less money....

to me motel dwellers do not have harleys and computers to go online and discuss said harley...does your motel rhyme with titz narlton...LOL
I am just having a fun discussion
