Getting ready to buy some new rotors, the description says
"Chrome Rotors". My ? is is there such thing as "Chrome Rotors" or would they just be high polished. And if they were Chrome would they flake? Does anyone have any experience with this.....thanks
I only know of guys buying chrome rotors for their showbikes that they ride 100 miles in a year.
I've heard that the chrome rotors will start to peel or flake if you use them a lot. Don't forget, when you use your brake, the pads wear in one particular spot, and will eventually make the chrome coating too thin, then it starts to flake off.
I'm getting my rotors polished in January. No flaking or peeling.
i have chrome centered flaoting rotors on my 06 streetbob, but they are not completely chrome. they are floating discs with the centers chromed and the disc part the brake rides on are stainless steel. i have 19,000 miles on them and no problems at all with flaking or peeling and when you need new ones you only have to buy the floating disc part not the center. jackyl

Yep, as long as the contact part of the rotor is not chrome.
