My 2005 Superglide wouldn't crank for several days and then finally, the battery was dead
altogether. Still had a year on the extended service contract and called the dealer, Fletcher Harley Davidsion in Clearwater Florida. They came over and picked the bike up.
Long story short, it wasn't the starter or starter solenoid, it was simply a dead battery.
They charged $111 for a new battery after checking to make sure the charging system
was up to snuff. The bike was ready today (yesterday was Christmas Day). Yes, they
did charge me for the roadside assistance which did surprise me, but when I called them on it,
they said that if any covered maintenance item had failed, the pick-up would have been free.
Since a battery isn't covered under extended maintenance, I had to eat the $75. Still, I had heard folks on this forum say the dealer installed battery was nearly $200. All in all, a positive
experience. Didn't even bring up the Cycle Shack slip-ons, Big Arless air cleaner, and power commander (rumored to void the warranty) Guess I will keep the two Fletcher Harley t-Shirts!
I think I paid $116 for the HD battery a few months ago.
Don't know why you consider it a positive experience to pay basically retail for the battery and then $75 for the roadside assistance but as long as you are happy that's all that matters I guess.

glad you felt you had a good experience with your dealer. I was visiting a dealership up in Georgia and had some simple service done and it took nearly 5 hours. Even though they knew I was waiting. They did test drive it to ensure everything was working, but they said they only had one washer guy and so they were backed up. I thought 5 hours was ridiculous, so again, glad you had a good experience with yours. The dealership I bought mine from Peterson South in Miami, has been the best dealership so far in terms of all around service, even called me on Christmas Eve to wish me a Merry Christmas.
Well that is what they say I would double check the conn. on the battary i know they are difficult to get at.Any way it is a new bike the battary should not of went bad any way
If you're a national HOG member, you may wish to get the "deluxe" roadside assistance package. For $20 a year, you can get an unlimited number of reimbursed tows. $20 for HOG per year and $20 for the unlimited tows. Cheap insurance.
I have AA and added Rv to it for an extra 20 bucks, recieved towing for bikes HOG to me is a waste Had bad experience with them. Just want your money with no customer relationship at all. Just my opinion
