How do you like the V&H slip-on's? How do they compare volume wise to the stock mufflers? I had drag pipes on my old Dyna, but the wife says no to pipes that are too loud for her as a passenger.
user45 the slip ones were on when I got it, I think they sound good, I would think plenty loud for most, I would like to get a set of pipes, but the only ones even close to my price range are the short shots.
If it was a softtail, I saw a brand new set of side shots at my closest stealer for 159 just before christmas, everything is always for softails...
Ohh well, such is the price of being different!
And I do have to hand it to everyone that makes a bar change look easy, man I struggled with that damm wireing....
The first time you do the internal wiring it is a PITA. Once you get it down though, it's not so bad.
As for the cables, try just snipping the zip ties off along the frame and see how much slack it gives you. Just check afterwards to see if the throttle cables hit the tank any when turning the bars side to side.
If not you may not need to worry about spending money on new ones.

Thanks brother!
Who's bike is it? Yours or the wifes??? lol *joke*
Don't worry what people tell you on how it looks. Do what your gut feeling is. It is usually the right choice. Bike looks good. Like the apes. But then again I do like the same look. I wish mine were 18's or 20's..
