Default '08 Street Bob - Apes - help!

Been wanting to go with apes on my 2008 Street Bob. Found a forum member who has a set of 17 inch apes with all the cables and is willing to let it go at what I consider a reasonable price. Here is my dilemma though -- the bars he has are 1.25 inch bars that then neck down to 1 inch. For 2008, Harley went to that ridiculous "integrated" riser that is built right into the top tree. The clearance on my stock 1 inch bar looks pretty close to the top of the fork as is and I am concerned about even making it with 1.25 inch bars. Yes, I know that when necked down to 1 inch that they will fit in the integrated risers, but since they then immediately go to 1.25 inches, will they clear the top of the forks? Went to a dealership today and they looked at it, scratched their heads and basically said they didn't know.

Has anyone with either a 2008 or a 2009 Street Bob put anything thicker than a standard 1 inch bar on their bike? If so, did you have any clearance issues? Would like to get this straightened out ASAP so I can get back to this guy without wasting too much of his time.

And who was the mental midget at Harley who decided the integrated risers were a wise idea?

don’t sweat it, just move your forks down in your tree's a little bit. Note it will not be enough to effect your handling.

Hmm, I don't know about them fitting. I just put on new 1" bars and they barely clear. As far as lowering the forks, I'd do a bit of research on it first.

Find something around the house 1/8" thick and see if it fits between your bars and forks on your current set up. The new bars will only be 1/8" bigger on each side.
