Exhaust ?
Depending on Year, Make and Model, most STOCK pipes on Harley's will produce between 82dB and 84dB
On the dB scale, every 10 dB INCREASE is a relative to the doubling of loudness. For example, subjectively 100dB is TWICE as loud as 90dB.
Per a tech at Vance & Hines............
The Following levels were measured at a distance of 6 feet.
Big Radius = 104-107 dB
Big Shots / BSS
with standard baffels =98 - 99dB,
no baffels = 102-104 dB
with Optional quite baffels= 95-96dB
The Q Series Double Barrel ( Q stands for Quiet Baffels) produces 95-96dB
Pipes producing 104 dB's and up can set off some vehicle alarms if you're close, and rev it up.
Hope this helps ya all out.

BTW, RUMOR has it that the Q Series Double Barrel pipes actually used to be HD brand Screaming Eagle 16 ga double barrell pipes. Since "loudness" became a factor in many states, HD had to stoped selling the PRE 2007 SE PIPES, which had "the sound" everyone associates with Harleys. The original mfg of the Old pre 2007 SE pipes ( V&H ) now markets those pipes under the Q Series name. That's what I've heard.

Maybe they charged $200 to put 'em on.
Thanks for the replys ,I guess the main thing holdimg me up on what I really want is the $$$.Allso I just like how the stock pipe fill in the area by trans but on the same note hate the look of the tppered muffler, that is why I was thinking of the straight HS
Dont let anyone tell you what you want, have you heard the straight shots?
my bike came with them, and I cant justify new pipes, i'd like a touch louder, but i cant justify the money.
I may try the bct baffels, but thats almost 1/2 way to short shots..
if you like the look and sound go for it, or look for used ones, if you eventually want a full set, save he green, just my 2 pennies.

Here's the tab for parts & Dyno tune for my 2007 Low Rider last week. The parts I've listed already include the 20% discount he gave me. I dont know what the specific "labor" hour time it was to remove my old pipes and put the new ones on. I was having a bunch of other work done, and it was all lumped in together.
