I just bought a bike that i was told it is a richard petty eddition? it is stp blue like the old 43 car. i cannot find any info on this model at all, has anybody heard of one? do you have any follow up info? anyhelp would be great. it looks like a fxd with afew model extras but the paint is #43 blue the rocker boxs, battery cover side cover fender strut air cleaner etc are all powder coated the same color?
I would have definitely asked more questions like:
1) original owner?
2) where was said 'special edition' purchased?
3) any official "special edition' documentation? With spec. ed., they are usually numbered, and maybe a cert of authenticity.
You get the idea. You may have just gotten swindled.

I've been doing research...looks like there was a petty edition dodge aspen. Looks pretty cool. spoiler and of course the big ol 43 on the door. Pretty rare to find one though.
Sounds like you bought a custom paint job....
There HAVE been a TON of custom bikes built as gifts or tributes for NASCAR drivers by small one off builders in the carolinas and florida.
I point this out because I actually sat on a "Famous NASCAR Driver Edition" and "Famous Driver" himself took my picture at a Marine Corps function a few years back.
Was the bike "his"? Yeah. Did he ride it? I never saw him riding it.
Two guys backed it off a trailer and roped it off, "Famous Driver" showed up in a SUV.
He said he didnt "commission" the bike to be built, it was a gift from a fan.
Some Fan huh? The guy built bikes and was a NASCAR nut.
So I tell you all of this to get to the following point....
The bike was raffled off that day for charity. The winner was a 70 year old lady who then SOLD THE BIKE ON THE SPOT and donated the proceeds BACK to the charity in question. Buyer sold the bike on eBay as "Famous NASCAR Driver Limited Edition Harley". No papers. No Certifications of Authenticity. Just a picture of him and "Famous Driver" with the bike.
The reason I dont name the "Famous Driver"?
Im fairly certain I would name the wrong guy as I am NOT a NASCAR follower, this wasnt the highlight of my life, and he was so rude he was EASILY forgettable.
