Apply Goo B Gone along the outer edge. Let it soak in for several minutes. Then use the dental floss (I used a very thin fishing line) go up and down in a saw action. While starting in the front and pulling back towards yourself, have someone else lightly lift on the edge that you have already cut. Good Luck.
Mine were a pain to get off... used dental floss, WD-40 and a blow dryer. If I were to do it again, I'd get dental floss, a couple of sticks to wrap the floss around, (instead of my fingers), and a heat gun. Heat seemed to make the biggest difference.
I just did mine last night. the none fuel side came off no problem with heat and a little goo gone but the fuel side kicked my a$$. I had a bunch of fine swirl scratches in the paint under where the emblem was. i had to take it to my buddy to buff it out.He said something about the fuel in the tank not liking the heat from my heat gun making it harder to come off.I dont know if i buy that but it looks good now after the buffing.
Pull it off by hand then pick the bigs parts off then use gas, thats it!!!! And gas doesnt hurt a think trust me! I have had it on my tank for 3 days stright and didnt know it,all it did was ruin my leather a bit! Paint is perfect!
I used a wire saw to remove the but-ugly stock emblems from my 07 FXDB...one like you find in a survival kit.got mine at Lowes I think....place the wire under one end of the emblem and, keeping both ends angled away from the tank, saw the emblems off...works like a charm and the wire never contacts your tank. Also, the emblems come off in perfect shape...:>)
I just took mine off.
I didn't mess with the dental floss. I just used a heat gun on the low setting, got it good and warm and, pulled them off slowly. What little bit of adhesive left on the tank I used gooBgone and was finished in five minutes.
